Much has been done as we prepare for winter! We finally have indoor laundry, just in time for freezing temps. All summer we have been doing laundry in the garage. Load after load, carry it to the garage, rain or shine. But that’s just one small hurdle we have cleared and just in time too. One morning the garden hose that ran to the washer was frozen solid.

With all the projects we are accomplishing every day and how busy we are continually, some days I forget to talk about how blessed we actually are! Make no mistake, it’s a lot of hard work and I seldom catch a moment to just sit aside from our regular day off in seven. But we are so blessed.

So let me tell you about some little blessings.

Last night Jess and I went to bed, I heard through the window of our bedroom the distant yup of a coyote, I opened the window and we just listened to the night, no engines reving, no sirens off in the distance and no trains bellowing the cry of freight being moved. Instead we heard the yips, chirps, hoots and clucks of all the wild creatures storing under a star filled sky. Looking out the window, I don’t see the glow of neighbors porch lights, no neon signs glowing the inticement of spending money on a deal that can’t be passed over, instead we see dark woods, bright skies, creeping shadows and silhouetted trees. In the morning we may hear an occasional car pass our house on a quest to arrive without screeching to a quick stop to avoid hitting our silly birds that have taken over the road as they peck the ground in a never ending hunt for seeds and bugs. Yes, it’s different here, in ways that we had only hoped for and now seeing our long lost expectations that have long ago been far exceeded.

Our “community” is growing and the people we meet are always happy to talk, help and get to know us. Ohh we may only see them once a week at church or passing them in the local L&M store, but they are like us. We live here now and feel so much a part of this community.

So, I may work 6 days a week, harder than I have ever worked before at anything, but the blessings of God are bigger, better and more noticeable when you don’t sit on the freeway waiting for the accident to clear four miles up the road.
